Abstract

|
|
A Case of pernicious anemia associated with chronic atrophic gastritis is presented
and recent literatures are briefly reviewed.
A 60 years old Korean female had been admitted to the department of internal
medicine of Fatima Hospital in February 27, 1987, with chief complaints of glossitis,
dizziness and visual blurring.
On the laboratory examination of peripheral blood and bone marrow aspiration smear
disclosed macro-ovalcytic hypochromic red cell appearance, hypersegmentation in one
half numbers of segmented neutrophils, reversed M : E ratio and hypercellular marrow
with megaloblastoid erythropoiesis. Serum Vit. B12 level is decreased and
gastrofiberscopic observation shows atrophic gastritis finding over body to fungus.
Based on the above findings, a case of pernicious anemia associated with chronic
atrophic gastritis could to diagnosed.
